Marvin Douglas Williams
After a strong and courageous battle with cancer, Marvin Williams passed away at the Portage District General Hospital on Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at the age of 59 years with loved ones by his side. Marvin is predeceased by both his dads Doug Sanderson and Wallace Williams and he leaves to mourn his passing his mother Dorothy Williams; daughter Brittany (Ryan) and step-sons Jason and Chris and their families; sister Maureen Desjardin (Robert) and nieces Tammy, Sherri and Laurie and families; brother James Williams; soul mate Alley McKellar and step-sons Matthew and Jordon Carruthers; special family members Janey MacDonald-Bradford and Barbara Toll; special cousin Morley (Colleen) Flynn; "mother-in-law" Marie Jacklyn; aunts and many cousins and their families.
Marvin was born on April 14, 1951 to Dorothy and Doug Sanderson. After Doug's death, Dorothy married Wallace Williams who took on the role being of Marvin's father. Both fathers were significant to Marvin. Marvin attended Portage Creek School, High Bluff School and Arthur Meighen High School where he took his automotive course. He completed his welding certificate at RRCC. Most of his life he farmed on the family farm and Taylor Brothers Farm until his illness prevented him. Marvin also worked in Fort McMurray and Lynn Lake doing welding and construction. He enjoyed fishing, camping and the outdoors. He was a member of Duck's Unlimited. Marvin always had time to go on a shopping spree with Brittany. He loved watching car racing and had the opportunity to go south to watch a NASCAR Race with Taylor Brothers Farm. He worked on his dream car a 69 Charger. Marvin always had a great sense of humor and could always make people laugh.
Viewing and visitation will be held on Thursday, April 7, 2011 from 7:00 to 8:00 pm at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel. Celebration of Marvin's life will be held on Friday, April 8, 2011 at 1:30 pm at William Glesby Centre led by Wilma Shirriff. Interment will take place at Hillside Cemetery.
