On Sunday July 9, 2023 Marlene Fehr passed away peacefully in her home at the age of 84 years. Marlene will be lovingly remembered by her husband John Fehr; children Carla (Brian) Braden, Kathy (Garry) Palmer, Ron (Bonnie) Fehr and daughter-in-law Valerie (Greg) Connolly; grandchildren David (Tarilyn), Breanne (James), Chris (Lindsey), Brad (Kristin), Amy (Cory), Cam (Casey), Abby, Rodney (Nichole), Tyler, Donnie (Megan), Amber (Matt) and many precious great-grandchildren; along with her brother Ted (Anne) Unruh and several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. She was predeceased by her son Richard Fehr on April 17, 2000.
Marlene lived a simple, frugal life. She even said she sometimes squeaked. Most important to her were her 65 years of marriage to her husband John, and her family. She loved to travel across Canada and the United States with John but her favourite place of all was their cottage /home at Sandy Lake. Hosting family gatherings with her children, grandchildren and great children brought her tremendous joy. Easter egg hunts, walks, bonfires, charades, and frozen bread at every family gathering are memories we all share. Her heartfelt hugs were generously given to all and will be missed.
Marlene approached her career and community service with an amazing passion, commitment, and work ethic. Her kindness and ability to connect with people left a lasting impression all throughout her life.
A private graveside service will be held on Friday July 14,2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Brookside Cemetery in Winnipeg.
Dr. Trevor Aquin you have our deepest thanks for your care, support, and kindness. Thank you to the nurses at Cancer Care, EMT’s (Gary and Tracy), Dr. Dao and her team.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Marlene’s memory to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, 1160-675 McDermot Ave, Winnipeg, MB, R3E 0V9.
“At the end of life, what really matters is not what we bought but what we built; not what we got but what we shared; not our competence but our character; and not our success, but our significance. Live a live that matters. Live a life of love.”
