Peacefully on Thursday, October 22, 2015, Marlene Corbett passed away at the Grace Hospital at the age of 78 years.

Marlene was born on July 4 th , 1937 in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, and lived on the family’s farm near MacDonald. Marlene went to school nearby and often travelled with her favourite horse. Here, at school, she developed a love of music. Country music was her favourite and she enjoyed playing guitar, piano, and singing with her sister, Beverly. Marlene and Beverly performed locally as the “Ferris’s Sister”, later travelling across Manitoba for performances. Marlene later moved to Edmonton and then to Calgary, where she met and married her husband, Doug. Here, her daughter, Heather, was born. The three of them later moved to Ottawa where her son, Brian, was born. The family moved and settled in Winnipeg as they wanted to be closer to Marlene’s parents and family in Portage. Marlene was active in her community. She was involved with the Heritage Community Club throughout her children's youth. She was a member of Westwood Presbyterian Church where she enjoyed working with the kids at Flora House Mission and Camp Prescawa. Her passion for music and people will be missed dearly.

Marlene was predeceased by her husband Douglas Corbett, and parents, Roy and Florence Ferris.

She is survived by her daughter Heather (David) Tuttle, granddaughter Céline Tuttle, son Brian Corbett, friend Ling Chow, sister Beverly Meseyton, sister-in-law Elnora (Howard) Bible, sister-in-law Joan Corbett, brother-in-law Mel (Shirley) Corbett, and extended family.
