Marlene Yvonne Coltart (nee Thierry)

March 10, 1935 — July 9, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Marlene Coltart on July 9, 2024 with family by her side at the age of 89 years.

Mom was born March 10, 1935 in Rapid City, MB growing up in the Minnedosa area. She took great pride in knowing that her childhood home, where she was raised, was selected and used in the heritage museum in Minnedosa – where it stands today. In Mom’s earlier years, she taught at the McCreary High School and at Portage Collegiate Institute. Mom married Dad on July 13, 1957 and began their family venture north of Portage. She was a valued volunteer with the UCW Unit C Group and a faithful member of the Trintiy United Church.

Left to cherish Mom’s memory are her children Kent (Tracey), Kelly, Mark (Julie) and Jocelyn (Tony), grandchildren Paul, Aaron, Amy (Trevor), Katie (Austin), Layne (Alex) and Avery (Bianca), great grandchildren Seth and Zayla. Also left to mourn are Mom’s brother Blain, sister Shirley (Jack), sister-in-law Anne Coltart; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Harvey, parents Laurie and Jenni, sister Donna and special cousin Christine.

Family was very important to Mom, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and most recently her 2 great grandchildren, her pride and joy, becoming “GG” was wonderful.

A celebration of Marlene life will take place at Trinity United Church on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at 2:00 pm, led by Rev. Julie Baker and Rev. Elijah Mwandila. A private family interment will take place at West Prospect Cemetery. The service will be recorded and available to view on Marlene’s obituary page the following day.
