Marjorie Claire Wilhemina Norman

With sadness we announce that Marjorie Norman passed away on March 12, 2025 at the age of 94 years.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Debbie Norman, Beverly Piebenga, Donna (Bernie) Norman, John (Patti) Norman and Linda McElwee along with many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Thomas Norman and son Timothy Norman.

Born in Souris on January 21, 1931, mom grew up in Hartney and Portage la Prairie. She worked as a manager in a restaurant in Portage where she met Dad, who became a regular customer. Eventually they married and had 6 children, while moving around the country with Dad’s job. She worked hard keeping house and raising a bunch of rambunctious kids.

Upon retirement they wintered in Texas, enjoying good times with other family members. She was also a pro at mini golf and loved to play cards. She also loved to sing and had a beautiful voice. She doted on her children and grandchildren. She was generous and loving and will be deeply missed.

The family would like to thank the 3rd floor staff at Poseidon Center for their compassionate care and kindness in looking after our mom.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at Good Shepherd Roman Catholic Church at 11:00 am. The service will be recorded and will be viewable on this obituary page once it is available.

As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made in Marjorie’s name to the Portage District General Hospital Foundation.
