On Thursday, December 5, 2019 Marie Linden passed away at the Lions Prairie Manor at the age of 93 years.
Marie was predeceased by her beloved son Gregory R. Smith husband William A. Linden, parents Ora and Myrtle MacIntyre and brothers, Lloyd (Ruth), Arnold (Margaret) MacIntyre, William (Dorothy) MacIntyre and Lester MacIntyre all of Moncton New Brunswick.
She will be lovingly remembered by stepdaughter Nancy (Chris) Blight of Portage la Prairie; stepson Wade (Judi) Linden of Portage la Prairie and stepson Bill Jr. Linden of Winnipeg; step grandsons Ashley (Victoria), Aaron (Laurence) and William (Anna) and step granddaughters Cathlene and Hillary (Jose); special sister Elsie MacIntyre of Riverview, New Brunswick along with many nieces and nephews.
Marie was born December 15, 1925 in Moncton, New Brunswick. She received her education in Moncton and following a business course she worked at the Bell Telephone Plant Department as secretary. As a teenager Marie was a member of the Wesley Memorial United Church in Moncton and their Young People’s Group as well as the Moncton Skating Club in July 1945. Marie married P/PO Ronald Smith of the British Fleet Air Arms and lived in England for two and a half years. She returned to Canada in 1949 and moved to Western Canada in 1955 being posted to Portage la Prairie in 1969. In 1985 her husband Ronald Smith passed away. Marie was involved in the Trinity United Church and the Family Group at the Manitoba Developmental Centre. She married the love of her life Bill Linden in 1992. Together they established a large Saskatoon orchard and spent happy hours growing vegetables and meeting people from all across Canada. Marie enjoyed skating and was a member of the Ladies Afternoon Skating Club, dancing, playing cards, crossword puzzles and cooking. She will be remembered for her smile and cheery ways.
Funeral Service will be held on Monday, December 16, 2019 at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel at 11:00 am, led by Rev. Julie Baker. Interment will take place at Hillside Cemetery.
