Marguerite passed away peacefully at Portage Hospital with family by her side on December 20, 2023 at the age of 81 years.

Marguerite is survived by her children Marshall (Margaret), Edward, Cecil, Shazia, Glenda and Jane (Julie), sister Mary, and brother James, along with her grandchildren Liane, Carla, Kerri, Troy, Junior, Gwendolyn, Shantel, Kelly Jo, Jesse, Irene, and Ila, great grandchildren, relatives and daughter-in-law Margaret Chippeway.

Marguerite was predeceased by her husband Darby St. Paul / Francis, mother Sara Roulette, father Mike (Fish) Lavasseur, grandparents, and grandchildren Lisa, Jason and Christina.

Marguerite was born in Long Plain on December 14, 1942. She worked in Various jobs in Winnipeg at the Nutty Club Warehouse, DunnRites, and casually worked as a homemaker. Marguerite spent some time living in Winnipeg, and then moved to Long Plain First Nation where she remained for the rest of her life. She lived life in the humblest way, she wore her heart on her sleeve, she was the most loving, giving and generous person. She taught us how to love with all our hearts (True Love). Her enjoyment was spending time with her family, friends, and especially her grandchildren. Her door was always open to family and friends. Marguerite’s hobbies were doing puzzles, crosswords, playing cards and BINGO, watching game shows, collecting collectibles, and photos of her family and friends, she took pride in her home and always enjoyed sitting down for a cup of hot tea.

Viewing will be held at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel on Thursday December 28, 2023 from 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm, Wake will follow at the Long Plain Spirit Lodge beginning at 4:00 pm.  Feast and Service will take place on Friday, December 29, 2023 at noon. Burial to follow at the Long Plain Cemetery.
