Marg Kitson passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at the Portage District General Hospital.
Marg was born on August 5, 1928 in Portage la Prairie and grew up on the family farm near Bagot, MB. She met and fell in love with Thomas “Bud” Kitson while teaching at DunDonald School. They married June 25, 1949 and soon began operating the family service station on 8th Street and Saskatchewan, then moved to their own location in 1963. Marg was very active in her community and her church. She loved helping others and was the queen of butter tarts. UCW and family were the joys of her life.
She was predeceased by her husband Bud; parents Malcolm and Jean; brother-in-law John Watson; sister-in-law Marj Coubrough; nephew Kurt Watson; niece Dorinda Bond; and good friend Joyce Adamson.
Marg is survived by her children Myrna (Ted) and Brian (Elaine); grandchildren Michael (Delka) and Laura (Scott); great-grandchildren Toren, Tabitha and baby Daphne. Also surviving are her siblings Don Coubrough, Walter (Doreen) Coubrough, Audrey (Ron) Tarr and Dianne Watson. Marg loved all of her nieces, nephews and friends.
A celebration of Marg’s life will be held at McKenzie United Church on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at 2:00pm, with Rev. Kathy Platt officiating.
