Margaret Ellen Palmer

(Calvert - nee Dunn)

Peacefully with family by her side, Margaret Palmer passed away on Friday, March 27, 2015 at the Portage District General Hospital at the age of 63 years.

She was predeceased by her parents Mark and Violet Edmondson; father John Dunn; first husband Larry Calvert and second husband Dave Palmer.  Margaret leaves to cherish her memory her sons Curtis (Wendy) Calvert with grandson Stewart, Sean (Annette) Palmer with grandchildren Samantha and Tyler, Cory (Cecile) Palmer with grandchildren Cyle, Chantal, Chelsey and great granddaughter Charlotte; brother Dave (Carol) Dunn; sisters Myrt Sturgis and Irene (Dave) Armishaw; sister-in-law Elva Dunn and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Margaret's journey in life began when she was born and grew up in the Oakville, Mb area.  In 1971, she met and married her first husband Larry Calvert of Melbourne, Mb. Together they moved to Carberry and in 1974 had a son, Curtis. After Larry passed tragically in 1974, Margaret returned to Oakville where she met and married Dave Palmer in 1976.  Margaret and Dave along with Curtis and Dave's sons Cory and Sean resided in Portage La Prairie where they raised all 3 boys.  Margaret worked for many years at the Lions Manor and retired in 2000 to spend time with Dave during his battle with cancer.  After Dave passed in 2001 Margaret moved to Southport and returned to work at ACL and Brandon Support Services before retiring for good.  She moved to Kawende Court in Oakville where she enjoyed doing puzzles, drinking Timmies coffee, visiting with the other tenants and overnight visits from her grandson Stewart.  She shared some good times with her friend Thelma and sister-in-law Elva who she held dear to her heart along with her cat Puss Puss.  Most recently before Margaret's passing, she was elated to have the chance to visit with family and see her great granddaughter Charlotte.  Margaret battled multiple types of cancer numerous times, lost two husbands she loved dearly yet continued to persevere and keep her sense of humour and enduring smile.  She will be lovingly remembered for her kind hearted ways, great sense of humour and absolute love of Tim Hortons coffee.

Funeral Service will be held at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at 1:00 pm led by Rev. Shirley McLaren.  Interment will take place at a later date in the Carberry Cemetery.
