Peacefully on Thursday, October 22, 2015, Shirley Martin passed away at the Portage & District General Hospital at the age of 86 years.
Shirley loved to spend time with family & friends. She worked for several years with the Woolworths & Robinson’s stores in western Canada. She loved bowling, and won many tournaments. Shirley also loved to spend many hours doing needlework.
Shirley is survived by her son Richard (Emily) of Portage la Prairie, MB, granddaughter Angie and her son Gavin, and grandson Craig (Cindy) and their daughters Miley & Kinzee, son Allen (Cathleen) of Calgary AB, and granddaughters Meagan & Carolynn, and sister-in-law Ileen Beatty, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, their families, and extended families.
Shirley was predeceased by her parents R. Hamilton and Tillie (nee Sylvester) Beatty, father of her children Henry Martin, and siblings Clarence, Dorothy (John) Majors, Hazel (Frank) Galbraith Florence (Ed) Scott and Clifford.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, October 30, 2015 at McKenzie’s Portage Funeral Chapel, Portage la Prairie, MB. Interment in Hillside Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Lions Prairie Manor for the care Shirley received during her time there.
