Margaret Evelyn Allanson

April 12, 1932 ~ January 24, 2012

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Margaret Allanson on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at the age of 79 years at the Douglas Campbell Lodge in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba

Margaret is survived by her daughter Lois (Don) Duggan of Silver Ridge; son Murray (Sheila) Allanson of Winnipeg; step-grandchildren Jim (Marcy) Duggan and Rick (Donna) Duggan and their families. She also leaves behind one sister Sharon (Dale) Hermanson, one brother-in-law Gerald Allanson, one sister-in-law Dot (Art) Devrieze, and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Al Allanson in March of 2011.

Margaret was born in Boissevain and grew up on the family farm near Justice, Manitoba. Throughout their married life, mom and dad both enjoyed time spent bowling, golfing, playing bingo, trapshooting, and stock car racing. They traveled throughout the province attending many different tournaments and events. Mom was known to be stubborn at times and she also had a very strong opinion. She had a good sense of humor and was loved and will be missed by all who knew her.

The family would like to express their thanks to the nursing staff on the extended care unit at Portage Hospital, and to the staff on B wing at Douglas Campbell Lodge for the care, love and support shown to our Mom.

Memorial service will be held on Monday, January 30, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at McKenzie Portage Funeral Chapel.
