Lucy Belle Kilbourne

Peacefully on Tuesday, October 11, 2011, Lucy Kilbourne passed away at her residence at the age of 90 years.
Lucy was predeceased by her husband W.B. "Sharkey" Kilbourne; parents Wallace and Louisa McIntyre and eight siblings. She leaves to mourn her passing two sisters Daisy (Alf) Newton of Neepawa and Shirley Stovin of Winnipeg; one brother Gordon (Barbara) McIntyre of Ochre River; many nieces, nephews, and special neighbours on 16th Street.
Lou worked for many years at Krindles and Rabkins. After retirement, Lou and Sharkey began traveling and enjoyed their many visits to Hawaii, Arizona, and B.C. One of their highlights was their trip to Holland where they celebrated the 50th Anniversary of the liberation of Holland. Lou also enjoyed making needlepoint pictures, many of which are displayed in her home and those of her friends and relatives.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Lou's many friends, neighbours, and relatives for making it easier for her to stay so independent and remain in her own home until her final days.
Visitation and viewing will take place on Monday, October 17, 2011 from 7 to 8 pm at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel (56 Royal Road South). A Celebration of Lucy's life will be held on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at 1:00 pm at McKenzie United Church (85-11th St, NW, Portage la Prairie).
As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Lucy's memory to McKenzie United Church Memorial Fund, 85-11th St, NW, Portage la Prairie, MB, R1N 2S2 or Fort la Reine Museum, P.O. Box 744, Portage la Prairie, MB, R1N 3C2.
