On April 4, 2022 at the Lions Prairie Manor in Portage la Prairie, Louise passed away at the age of ninety-one with her family by her side. Predeceased by her beloved husband Pierre Simon, her parents Ulysse Evrard and Yvonne Bizet, her brothers Edmond Evrard and Valère (Mimie Leclercq) Evrard and her brother-in-law Julien Demoulin and niece Isabelle Demoulin, Louise leaves to cherish her memory her sons Philippe (Keiko) Buhlmann of Minneapolis and Christophe (Valerie) Simon of Oakville, her daughter Marie-Pierre (Joseph) Wermie of Portage la Prairie, her grandchildren: Simon (Kate) and Julien Wermie, Stephanie (Kiernan) and Christine Simon, her brother Prof. Philippe (Ghislaine) Evrard  of Paris France, her sisters-in-law Marie-Agnès Evrard of Kraainem Belgium and Joséphine Demoulin of La Louvière Belgium, her niece Bénédicte Evrard, her nephews Pierre (Damienne) Evrard, Jean (Muriel) Evrard, Baudouin Evrard, Olivier (Françoise) Evrard, Bertrand (Dominique) Demoulin all of Belgium, nephew Albert Evrard s.j. of Toulouse France and numerous great nieces and nephews all of Belgium, as well as cousins:  the Havaux families and special relatives: the Franc and Goffaux families of Belgium.

Louise was born February 23, 1931 on ‘’The Posterie’’ in Courcelles in Belgium.  After completing “l’École Normale” at the ‘’Institut Sacré-Coeur’’ in Nivelles, she went on teaching for thirty-two years, mostly at the “Institut St. André” in Charleroi in Belgium. She was a caring and enthusiastic teacher who was respected and loved by her students.  In 1983, she moved with her family from Frasnes-lez-Gosselies, Belgium to Portage la Prairie and taught French to Officers at the Canadian Forces Base in Southport.  Louise had a zest for life, always enjoying company, and spending time with her grandchildren.  She was an avid reader with a passion for writing as well, and she appreciated a good debate.  Even after moving to the Lions Prairie Manor, she was fond of the company of people around her and she will be remembered for the expression: “Madame, Madame!”

The family would like to sincerely thank all the staff of the Lions Prairie Manor for the wonderful care she received.  As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Louise’s memory to the Lions Prairie Manor Foundation Inc., 24 - 9th Street NE, Portage la Prairie, MB, R1N 3V4.
