“Red Woman Standing North”
With great sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved daughter, sister, niece, aunt, and friend, Lisa Marie Keewatincappo, on June 23, 2024.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Summer Daylene, father Walter James Keewatincappo, Mama Carole Francis, special uncle Birdy Francis, grandparents, Flora Jane and Walter James Francis and her grandparents from Waywayseecappo.
Lisa was born on February 6, 1981, in Prince George, BC, to Loretta Lynn Francis and Walter James Keewatincappo. She was raised by Mama Carole Francis, in Winnipeg, MB for the majority of her life. Lisa was very proud of her children and looked forward to becoming a grandmother this summer by her oldest daughter, Jada Marie Keewatincappo. She began her family in Roseau River with Kenneth Egachie Jr. and her children, Kenneth (Onnie) III, Kendra, Kaylee, Kennice, Kennley, Landon, and Kingston.
Lisa later moved to Long Plain where she and Erick had Summer Daylene and Everlee Rainbow Sky, and where her life centered around her children. She always made sure they were loved and well taken care of. She had a close relationship with her brother, Kevin Francis, and enjoyed watching him Chicken Dance. She also shared a special bond with her Aunty Helen Francis and Papa, Faron ‘Horse’ Sutherland. Lisa loved to travel with her family to various powwows, singing and dancing. Lisa followed her traditional Ojibway culture and looked forward to visiting with her family at ceremonies. Lisa was a great sister, cousin and friend. She had many friends from all over and would often joke and tease with them.
She leaves to mourn her mother, Loretta Lynn Francis (Clint), her brothers, Walter James ‘Tim’, Kevin (Jolene) and Donavan, sisters Sonia, Laurie, Renee and Marnia, aunties, uncles, cousins and many beloved friends.
