Linda Marie Lennstrom
Peacefully, after a lengthy illness, on Wednesday, November 10, 2010, at the Portage District General Hospital, Linda Marie Lennstrom passed away at the age of 64 years.
Predeceased by parents Oscar and Gertha (nee Naslund) Lennstrom, sister and brother-in-law Bernice and Archie Davidson.
Her long time friend Shirley Cockroft and friends Angelina, Colleen, Darlene, Doreen, Emma, Glenda, Irene, Janet and Raymond, Jani, Kim, Leona, Mary, Mary Alice, Marilyn, Mitch, Patricia, Ruth, Shannon, Sue, and Wendy will lovingly remember Linda.
Linda was born in Eriksdale, Manitoba, on May 4, 1946, and lived on the family farm until 1957 when she moved to the Manitoba Developmental Centre. In 1986 Linda transferred to the Pelican Lake Centre in Ninette, Manitoba, and lived there until 2000. The Pelican Lake Centre was where she first met her friend Shirley Cockroft. From there Linda went to Visions of Independence, sharing a home with Shirley on Red Oak Street in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and again at 90 a" 12th Street in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, from 2007 until her passing.
To know Linda you would understand that she was a very loving person. She was giving and affectionate. Everyone was treated to Linda's wonderful sense of humour. The twinkle in her eye, as well as her impish grin, always gave her away. Linda was a joy to be with. She was very strongwilled, but you could always find forgiveness and laughter with her.
Linda loved, loved, loved her music and often could be heard singing at the top of her voice or just listening adoringly! Linda enjoyed sightseeing while going out for drives. She also enjoyed spending time in her kitchen (ensuring that everything was tidy and in it's place) doing puzzles, painting, and especially socializing. Linda continued to show us how courageous and inspiring she was throughout her lengthy illness. Her spirit for life carried through until the day she left us and will forever remain in the hearts of those of us who loved her.
Special thanks to all the nurses, doctors and staff at the Portage District General Hospital who assisted with Linda's care. We are eternally grateful.
