Linda Kehler

Peacefully into the arms of Jesus, Linda Kehler passed away with family by her side on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at the age of 86.

Predeceased by parents Helena and Dietrich Bartel; great granddaughter Sara Jane; siblings Peter, Katheryn, Jessie, Esther and numerous extended family

She will be lovingly remembered by beloved husband David; children Sharon (Terry) Gross of Winnipeg, Darrell (Iris) Kehler of High River, AB, Marvin (Darlene) Kehler of High Bluff, MB, and Marcia (Johannes) Neuschwander of Fortier, MB; grandchildren Kimberley (Kirk) Fleming, Darren (Stephanie) Gross, Adam (Trish) Kehler, Jonathan (Abbey) Kehler, Jared (Kristen) Kehler, Elyse (Justin) Kehler, Daniel (Randi) Kehler and Timothy Neushwander; great grandchildren; brothers Jake Bartel of Steinbach, MB, and Elmer Bartel of Winnipeg, MB; many nieces, nephews and their families and countless friends.

Linda accepted the Lord in her early childhood and devoted time as a camp counselor at CSSM and Red Rock Bible camp. She attended Bible College where she made her commitment that she kept for life to be involved in youth work and other Christian endeavors.  She took training and became a nurse.  On May 24, 1953 she married David Kehler and made a home with him on the farm raising 4 children.  She claims she was the supervisor of gardening.  She expressed herself through her written poetry.  Linda was a wonderful, dedicated volunteer at Newton Community Fellowship, family camp, the Progressive Conservative Party and Christian Woman’s Club of which she was on the executive, became a speaker and a dedicated prayer warrior. Linda always had a smile and a little chuckle as she enjoyed life and all the people she came in contact with.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at Newton Community Fellowship Church at 11:00 am with viewing to be held prior to the service.  Reception to follow; private family interment will take place at the Methodist Cemetery, High Bluff, MB.

Donations in memory of Linda can be made to Youth for Christ Portage, 60 Tupper St. N. Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 1W8.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Portage District General Hospital for their care and compassion.
