Peacefully on Friday, January 6, 2023 with her family by her side Linda Adams passed away at Lions Prairie Manor at the age of 79 years.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband Perry Adams; children Darren Adams of Yellowknife, Dena Adams of Portage la Prairie and Danelle (Curtis) Hanchar of Stony Mountain; grandchildren Jason, Nick, Kyla, Katelyn and Carly; siblings Larry (Bonnie) Austin, Allan (Patricia) Austin and Barry (Sherri) Austin; sisters-in-law Jean (Robert Chapman and Betty Johnson; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Ernie and Viola Austin, sister-in-law Sandra Adams and brother-in-law Ken Johnson.
Linda was born on December 15, 1943 in Souris, the first child and only daughter of Ernie and Viola Austin. They lived in Minto until she was 5 years old and then moved to Gladstone and later to Portage la Prairie. From ages 12 to 17, Linda looked after the neighbour’s children. After grade 12, Linda took a 3 year Psychiatric Nurse’s Course and found employment at the Manitoba Development Centre. On June 26, 1965 she married Perry Adams and moved to his family farm where they raised their three children. She was an active member in the United Church. In Portage, Linda taught the very young children in McKenzie Mission Sunday School. Her children grew up in that church and were all baptized. Over a span of 5 years, Linda took courses towards a “Certificate of Theology” which she completed in June of 2004. Her family was very important to her and she enjoyed spending time together.
Visitation and Viewing will take place at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel on Thursday, January 12, 2023 from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Funeral service will be held at McKenzie United Church on Friday, January 13, 2023 at 1:00 pm, led by Wilma Shirriff. Interment will take place at Burnside Cemetery.
As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made in Linda’s memory to a charity of one’s choice.
