It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Lili Woodward on February 18th, 2025, at the age of 55.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband David, children Ethan, Nathaniel (Emily), Josiah, Kaleb, and Ryley, mother Helene Wiens, siblings Jake Wiens, Annie (Scott) Shaw, Liz (D’Arcy) Price, Tina (James) Richardson, and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. She is predeceased by her father Jakob Wiens, and mother-in-law Patricia Woodward.
Lili was born in a small town on the other side of the world on April 25th, 1969. Together with her parents and 2 siblings, she immigrated to Canada at the age of 4. Lili started school without knowing how to speak English but was a fast learner. Her quiet nature and love of reading no doubt helped her at school and to adapt to a very different way of life in a new country. During her school years, she had many interests that included playing the flute and clarinet, she played volleyball and basketball, and she was an accomplished seamstress. For her grade 12 project, Lili sewed a wedding dress and set the bar for future students for years to come.
Lili loved the outdoors. Camping, hiking, horseback riding, biking, or relaxing in the sun were among her favorite activities growing up. Being the eldest sister, she spent time driving us shopping or to the movies. Lili was always up for an adventure. When she was 21, she moved to South Dakota and enjoyed several years of working with the Lindbergs and their church. She also lived in Texas for a year, being a roommate and providing a piece of home for her sister who nursed there for a term. The trips to South Padre Island were among her favorite places to visit. Lili also loved to travel and enjoyed several trips to Europe to visit family.
After moving back to Winnipeg for a few years, Lili moved to Portage and it was there that she met her husband David. Her greatest joy was being a mother and she loved her boys fiercely. Lili had a giving heart, always lending a helping hand and serving those she loved. Whether it was helping in the kitchen or singing with the Praise and Worship team at church, Lili gave to others. She was always there to help in her quiet way. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Until we see you again Lili, we love you.
