Leonard Joseph Lepine

We regret to announce the peaceful passing of Leonard Joseph Lepine at the Portage District General Hospital on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at the age of 79 years.  

Left to mourn his passing and cherish his memory are his daughter Sherry Lepine of Portage la Prairie; granddaughter Lisa (Ryan) Stevenson of Portage la Prairie and grandson Lucas Brown (Larissa Constable) of Brandon; siblings Bob (Arlene) Lepine of Sanford, MB, Floyd Lepine of Oakpoint, MB, Raymond Lepine of Winnipeg, MB, Lucille Francis of Calgary, AB and Teresa Dokken of Portage la Prairie, MB along with his former spouse and mother of Sherry, Sheila Heibert.

Leonard was predeceased by his parents Bob and Alice Lepine; brothers Clifford, Maurice and Dennis and sister Dianne.

Leonard was born in St. Ambroise on December 31, 1944.  Growing up Leonard worked a lot with his dad, also helped local farmers and fishermen.  He went to school in St. Ambroise and later started to work for the RM of Portage running heavy machinery, he later went on to work at Mulder Construction until retiring.  He liked being outside, liked to make people laugh and he had a good sense of humour.  He was always willing to help when he could.  His hobbies were carving duck decoys and making boats with his dad. St. Amboise was and will always be his home.   

Prayers and a time of viewing and visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at 6:00 pm at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel. The ceremony was livestreamed and can be viewed below.

Burial will take place in St. Ambroise at a later date.
