Laurie Cheswick-Ward

1957 ~ 2011

It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Laurie Cheswick-Ward on Monday, September 19, 2011 at the Riverview Health Centre in Winnipeg at the age of 53 years.

Laurie is survived by her brother Robbie Cheswick (Tracy) of Winnipeg, MB; niece Jessie Cheswick of Winnipeg, MB and great niece Madison Cheswick/Wiechec. She is also survived by her stepfather Arnold Dyck, aunts Pearl Turko (Paul) and Ann Chrustie of Alonsa, MB; uncle Stan Fashoway (Ann) of Alonsa, MB; aunts Alice Epp (Jake) of St. Norbert, MB, and Lois Dyck of Winkler, MB, and many other aunts, uncles, cousins and close family members. Laurie had a love of animals and also leaves behind her cat "Hugger".

She was predeceased by her parents Deamer Cheswick and Ollie Dyck and her uncles Ben Turko, and Russell Chrustie.

Laurie was a very caring and loving person who valued the many friendships she developed over the years. She was a very outgoing person who had a variety of interests, one of which was music. She loved all kinds of music and enjoyed the many live concerts she was able to attend. Laurie worked at a variety of different careers throughout her life. The one career she enjoyed the most and for which she had a strong passion was working at Esther House. It was here that she was able to give of herself in helping others. Laurie loved to smile and we will all miss her.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, September 23, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Portage Evangelical Church (72 3rd Street NE) in Portage la Prairie, MB.

The family would like to thank the staff on 3 East at Riverview for their love and care. Laurie was treated her like a member of their family and we truly appreciate it.

As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Laurie's memory to the Riverview Health Centre Foundation, One Morley Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3L

A tree will be planted in memory and cared for by McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel www.mckenziesportagefuneralchapel.com
