Larry Meeches

With sadness and heavy hearts we announce that Larry Meeches left on his journey to the Spirit World on Thursday, May 13, 2021, at the Portage District General Hospital, at the age of 51 years.

Left to cherish Larry’s memory are his siblings Kerry (Peggy), Daryl, Freida, Brenda (Ken), Sandra (Loreen),  Arlene, Randal and Sherry (Dean), step-dad Cecil Paul and grandsons Mackenley and Juaquin, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Larry  was predeceased by his infant daughter Mia, mother Lena Meeches, dad David McKinney and siblings Kimball, Sharon and Darren.

Larry was born on November 12, 1969 in Portage la Prairie.  In his younger, healthier years, Larry was an outdoorsman. He loved fishing, hunting with his brother Kerry and their cousins, and canoeing.  He lived in Ontario for a few years when he was younger, and loved the time he spent outdoors there as well. In his teenage years he would often ride the rails to Winnipeg to spend time at Kerry and Peggy's home. He also loved kids, and spent many hours playing with nieces and nephews… and spoiling them with treats and presents. Larry loved doing art, painting, antler carving and glass etching were a few of his favorites. When his mobility became limited, he enjoyed going to bingo.

Private family services will be held, with burial to follow at Dauphin Myerion Cemetery.
