Kenneth Lyon McLeod passed away peacefully on April 29, 2023 with family and friends by his side.
Ken was predeceased by his parents, Cartney and Dorothy (Lyon) and his brother, Arthur. Surviving are his sister-in-law Blanche, two nephews Morley (Laura) and Dennis, one great nephew Ian (Heather, great-great nieces, Adalee and Lilija), three great nieces Sigrid (Angus), Cheryl (Jason) and Courtenay, and great-great nephew Colby.
Ken was a man with many interests and a diversified education. His vocation was in education, as an instructor at Red River College in Winnipeg, first in Adult Education with part of his time spent in Portage la Prairie at the Women’s Correction Centre and, later, in Business Administration.
Ken’s two great loves, though, were music and travel. His exceptional ability as a pianist, organist, and choir director led him to serving at three different churches, the most recent being at St. Mary’s Anglican. He was able to share his love for New York and Broadway through his involvement in the Rotary Club Variety Show and the Rotary Cabaret. For over 40 years, he was able to instill his loves in the lucky chorus members and all who attended their performances. For a change of pace, Ken started a community chorus, Eklektik, that lived up to its name by providing a wide variety of music to appreciative audiences.
Ken was a traveller, never a tourist, and managed to see the much of the world, including Antarctica. He never had a bucket list and was as interested in seeing people living their daily lives as much as seeing all of the must-see attractions.
