Suddenly on Saturday, March 29, 2014 Kenny George passed away at Portage District General Hospital at the age of 53 years.
Kenny is survived by his partner for 20 years Tania Catcheway; children Veldine Catcheway (Jamie Hamilton), Darlynn Catcheway, Eric Catcheway; godchild Kayla George; sister Barbara (Murray) Campbell; brothers Hubert George, Ray (Cheryl) George and Delbert (Connie) George; aunties Mildred (Henry) Munroe, Linda George, Gertrude (Ernest) Summer, Connie (Len) Young, Mary Anne (Bryden) Anderson, Shirley Walker and Emma Ballantyne; uncles Jacob (Patsy) George, Edward (Cora) Thomas, Donald Thomas, Ralph (Virginia) Thomas and Arnold Ballantyne; stepdad Ben Packo; cousins Henry Munroe Jr., Waylon (Martina) Munroe, Conway (Dawn) Munroe, Patricia George-Lachose, Rolanda George, Samantha (Leroy) Lachose, Alice (Ronald) Chartier, Austin (Janet) George, Delia Chartier, Russell (Karen) Chartier, Sandra (Thomas) George, Gary Chartier, Gladys (Bruce) Ballantyne; father and mother-in-law James and Theresa Catcheway; brothers-in-law Brent, Matthew, Luke, Ellis, Keith (Joanna) and Kevin (Bernadette); sisters-in-law Cynthia (Louie) Rhonda (Cliff); friends Floyd George, Leo George, Clifford George, Elvis George, Thomas George, Roy George, Jack George and Raymond Lachose. As well as numerous other relatives and friends.
Predeceased by his mom Phyllis Packo and dad Joe Ballantyne; grandparents Adolphus and Ellen George whom he was raised by, Henry and Eliza Jane Thomas and Hardesty and Catherine Ballantyne; uncles Herman George, Norman George, Francis George, Peter Chartier, Douglas Ballantyne, Leonard Ballantyne and 4 in infancy; aunties Mabel Chartier, Virginia George, Mary Beardy, Flora Packo, Rosalie Woodhouse, Ethel Ballantyne, Christine Ballantyne, Thelma Ballantyne; cousins Catherine George, George Chartier,
Kenny worked as a carpenter, firefighter, fisherman, CCRP, CLCP and on various farms around Portage area. He enjoyed hunting, playing Bingo and cards and visiting family and friends. He will be fondly remembered for his love to clean up and his eagarness to lend a hand.
Wake will be held on Monday, April 7, 2014 at 4:00 pm at Dakota Tipi Community Hall, Dakota Tipi, Manitoba. The Funeral Service will take place on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at 1:00 pm at Dakota Tipi Community Hall, Dakota Tipi, Manitoba led by Gilbert Catcheway. Interment will follow Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Portage la Prairie, Manitoba with pallbearers being Waylon Munroe, Conway Munroe, Russell Chartier, Kevin Catcheway, Keith Catcheway, Clifford George, Austin George, Murray Campbell, Matt Catcheway, Luke Catcheway, Ellis Catcheway, Cliff Lawler, Dillan West and Leroy Lachose.
