Kenneth William Yuill
Suddenly at St Boniface Hospital, Winnipeg on Tuesday March 8th, 2011, Ken Yuill passed away at the age of 72 years, with Pat at his bedside.
Ken was predeceased by parents Verna and Clarence Yuill and an infant daughter. He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years Patricia; children Roberta (Bob) Grant of Winnipeg, Joanne (Doug) Martin of Vermilion, SD and Kevin (Iris) Yuill of Portage la Prairie; his grandchildren Lynn, Patti (Karl), Ryan and Andrew Grant; Darren and Karissa Martin, Crystal Tully and Blair (Sarah) Callbeck and great grandchildren Jackson Schwab and Gavin Tully. He is also survived by his sister Margaret Yuill of Winnipeg and brother Tom of Starbuck, MB; in-laws Tom (Marion) Prior, Aldyne (Bob) Barrett and Dorothy (Doug Treffry) Prior and several nieces and nephews.
Ken graduated with a Diploma of Agriculture in 1958 from the University of Manitoba, receiving the President's Medal. Ken was active in the Kinsmen Club and later on K-40 Club. He enjoyed snowmobiling with the Snowdrifters Club and the Whiteshell Group. Ken was very active with Manitoba Sugar Beet Growers serving as president and worked tirelessly to keep that industry in the province. He received the Outstanding Service Award from the Manitoba Seed Growers Assoc. Southport Board was another group he actively participated in for 5 years.
Ken did not have hobbies but enjoyed time curling, snowmobiling, boating, fishing, hunting and attempting to teach his children to water ski. As he eased into retirement Ken and Pat enjoyed several winters at Fountain East Park in Mesa, AZ.
Celebration of Ken's life will be held at Trinity United Church on Saturday March 12, 2011 at 3:00 pm with Rev. Beth Kerr officiating. Private burial will take place at Prospect Cemetery.
