Kenneth Lilley

On Monday, March 21, 2011, after a courageous battle with cancer Kenneth Gordon Lilley passed away, at the Portage District General Hospital at the age of 55 years.

Ken was predeceased by his parents Eustache and Ina and brothers Johnny, Carl and Ron.

Left to cherish his memory are his siblings Ernie, Marion (Earl) Nogler, Larry (Barb), Wilbert (Connie), Norman (Tracey), Glenda (Gerald) Palendat, Allan, Kim and Jason.

Although he had many nieces and nephews Ken was fond of Stephanie, Chris, Micheline, Olivia and Tavia. Also the family dog Spider.

Ken was born in Portage la Prairie and attended North Ward School and LaVerendrye School. He worked at the MDC for approximately 10 years. Ken also had his own yard care business where he met countless people. He was also the janitor at the Knights of Columbus Hall and the Army and Navy Hall. Ken was a member of Good Sheppard Church. Ken took great pleasure in looking after his nieces and nephews. He always had one of them with him. Stephanie used to be his right hand person, helping him clean yards and then go for lunches with him. Chris, Olivia and Tavia came next after Steph had grown up. He was a very strong willed and independent man. Ken was always looking for someone to go for lunch with him and he would never let them pay. He would always say, "it's my treat".

A graveside service led by Deacon Bill Parrack will take place at Hillside Cemetery Saturday March 26, 2011. We will gather at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel at 10:45 am.

As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Ken's memory to Central Plains Cancer Care Services, 318 Sask. Ave. E, Portage la Prairie, MB, R1N OK8 or to Sunset Palliative Care Inc, Box 92, Portage la Prairie, MB, R1N 3B2.

His weary hours and days of pain

His troubled nights are past

And in our aching hearts we know

He had found peace at last

A tree will be planted in memory and cared for by McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel www.mckenziesportagefuneralchapel.com
