July 12, 1986 – February 2, 2015

Suddenly on February 2, 2015 Kayla Laporte passed away in her family home at the age of 28 years.

She leaves to mourn her mother Fran Jane Laporte; her beautiful children, twin girls Keelia and Kyla (10 years old), Kali Laporte (9 years old), Richard Laporte (7 years old), Kashton Laporte (5 years old) and Keenen Laporte (2 years old); brothers Richard Laporte, Shane Peters and Jessie Laporte; sisters Randa Peters; birth mother Beverly Peters; grandmother Yvonne Peters; great aunt and uncles Esther Cameron and William Laporte. Kayla will be cherished by her aunts Charlyn Peters, Miranda Peter and Audrey Peters, uncles, cousins and close friends.

She was predeceased by her grandfather Huey Peters of Long Plain First Nation; great grandparents George and Mary Laporte and Wallace and Helen Peters all of Long Plain First Nation; father Lonnie Swan of Dog Creek First Nation and grandmother Isabelle Swan of Dog Creek First Nation.

Kayla will be remembered by her loud laugh always trying to help others.  As a child Kay was a Fancy dancer at pow wows.  Kayla was very happy with her childhood, she had told her family this as they were very close even though they had their differences.   There was always forgiveness and standing by her side.  Kayla and her mom enjoyed walking together where they talked and joked together, forever being happy and hiding her pain.  There was lots of good times together.

Traditional Wake will be held on Sunday, February 8, 2015 at the Long Plain Spirit Lodge beginning at 4:00 pm.  Traditional Funeral service will be held on Monday, February 9, 2015 at 12:00 pm led by Chief Dennis Meeches.

Pallbearers will be Nolan Laporte, Corbin Mousseau, Conan Laporte, Guy Peters, Terrence Peters and Troy Myerion.

Fran and family thank you from the bottom of their hearts for your support.  The family would also like to thank Chief Dennis Meeches for helping with prayers.
