Kay Anne Wishart

It is with great sadness that the family of Kay Anne Wishart is announcing her passing on Wednesday, June 14, 2017.

Kay is survived by brother Don (Cora) of Balgonie, SK, sister Marlene Batke of Oakville, MB, sister in law Dorothy Wishart of Prince George, BC, brother in law Gard Greenlay of Portage and many cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces/ nephews, great grand nieces/ nephews and friends.

Kay is predeceased by her parents Allan & Ann Wishart of Portage, her brother Keith & his wife Dorothy of Minnedosa, brother Ken of Prince George and sister Beth Greenlay of High Bluff.

Kay began her education in Old High Bluff moving on to graduate from Portage Collegiate.  She then took a business course at Angus Business College in Winnipeg.  She joined the Imperial Bank of Canada in Sioux Lookout and then transferred to Winnipeg.  Six months later she joined Brown & Rutherford (lumber & millwork) and was employed there in various positions until her retirement in 1996.  After four years she moved to Portage to enjoy the rest of her retirement.

She was very creative and loved crafting and sewing.  Many knew her from the Christmas markets in Portage and craft sales in Winnipeg.  She travelled throughout Canada and loved bringing back mementos of those trips.  She will be missed at family gatherings where she brought oatmeal cookies, jam buns, Pic-a-Pop and fruit jellies.

Funeral service will be held at McKenzie’s Portage Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at 2pm.  Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, as expressions of sympathy if friends so wish, donations may be made in Kay’s memory to Central Plains Cancer Services, 318 E Saskatchewan Ave, Portage la Prairie, MB, R1N 0K8.
