Kay was born on her grandmother’s farm in High Bluff, MB.   She attended Dale, Cochrane and High Bluff Schools.  She took a permit teaching position at West Tupper in the Plumas district for one year and then took a bookkeeping course at Miss McKay’s in Portage.  She worked at Lyons Garage for three years before going to the Bank of Montreal for 10 years.

During the time she lived at High Bluff, Kay curled with the High Bluff Ladies, and was Treasurer of the High Bluff Church Board and in charge of Poplar Point, Murray and High Bluff.  She moved to Portage where she curled with the Portage Ladies Curling Club and was draw master for a couple of years.  As she did not belong to any of the Lodges she was free to curl every night, which she did.  She also played ball with the Portage Creamettes and rode to tournaments in the back of the cream truck.

In 1965 Kay Married John Polmark of Portage and moved to Toronto, Ontario.  In Toronto she curled at Avonlea Curling Club where she became President of the Ladies Club.  Upon returning to Portage in 1985, Kay joined the La Reine Ladies Curling Club later becoming President.  She attended McKenzie United Church and was appointed to the Church Board.  In Keeping with the family tradition Kay became involved with the Legion.  She has been on the Executive for a number of years.  She also volunteered and enjoyed the friendships she made at the Herman Prior Senior Centre.
