Kay was born in Alonsa on April 22, 1923. However, she celebrated her birthday on April 13 th because that was when her sister Verna told her she was born. She received her education at Griffith School in Alonsa. She married Walter Kruk on October 13, 1945 in Alonsa. They raised their family of five in Portage la Prairie. She was very kind, easy going, considerate, generous and very patient with her children, unless they deserved otherwise. She was inspirational and touched many lives. Kay worked as a waitress in cafes, cleaned trailers and eventually worked at Campbell Soup for many years before retirement. In her younger years, she enjoyed travelling, reading, especially Reader’s Digest, playing softball and broomball, cooking, planting a very large garden, crocheting and knitting, collecting coins, stamps and recipes, listening to the radio, doing word find puzzles, watching soap operas and game shows. Kay found the most pleasure in being with family.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of the Lions Prairie Manor, as well as the doctors and staff at the Portage General Hospital for their care and compassion.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at 3:00 pm at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel, 56 Royal Road South, with the interment to follow at Hillside Cemetery.
