Joyce Helen Kristenson
"Pebbles"
(nee Clinton)
With great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Joyce Helen Kristenson on April 10, 2010, at Winnipeg, Manitoba. Joyce, also affectionately known to many as Pebbles, passed away at the age of 81 years.
She was predeceased by her loving husband Arthur Kristenson; parents Homer and Myrtle (Hopps) Clinton, brother Casey Clinton and infant children: Casey Chris (1953), Paula Star (1955), Melody Moss (1957), Barry Royce (1958), Becky Joy (1962) and Sterling Lars (1963).
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Sheila Kristenson; grandchildren Laura (Wally) Kucharsky and children Cadence and Kalya, Kristen Lysak (Bruce Isabel) and children Rowan and Ella, Brad Lysak (Lauryn Oates) and Ainsley Kristenson (Brad Moore) and daughter Ayla Moore; and son Scott Kristenson (Loretta). Mom also leaves behind her beloved sister Ruth Byrd, nieces and nephews Gail, Ruthie, Patty, Willie, Casey, Leslie, Linda, Wayne and their families. Mom will also be lovingly remembered by Bud (Horace) Brownridge with whom she shared over 30 wonderful years.
Mother was born and raised in Winnipeg Manitoba. She began a life long passion of music at the tender age of 6 yrs old when she started taking piano lessons. There was barely an instrument mom could not play and she was also an accomplished banjo player. Mother's musical career took her all over Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Ontario and into the United States. Her love of 'tickling the ivories' and entertaining 'even for a crowd of one" lasted throughout her life right up until December 30, 2009 where she played the piano for the last time at Portage General Hospital.
Two months after mom and dad were married, in 1952, they built a lake front cottage at Nutimik Lake where they spent 50 glorious years. Mother delighted in time spent with her grand and great grandchildren.
Memorial Service will be held at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel on Friday, April 16, 2010 at 2:00 pm led by The Venerable Norman Collier. Interment will take place at a later date.
