Family and friends, we regret to announce the sudden and tragic passing of our beloved brother, son, family member and everyone's friend, Joseph “Joey” Tessier. Joey passed at his home in Portage la Prairie on the morning of Monday, January 25, 2021 at the age of 33 years.
Left to forever cherish his memory, are his mother Arlene Baines (Terry Vondrasik); father Jamie Tessier and sisters Ashley Tessier (Ryan Markus) and Tisha Tessier (Cole Preston); as well as a number of half- siblings. Forever cherished by his beloved nieces Ainsley, Paisley, Hailey Preston and nephew Rylan Preston.
Ready to greet Joe with open arms are his grandmothers Phyllis Ducharme and Bertha Ramsey. He will also be lovingly remembered by his many uncles Cal (Caron) Baines, Jim (Louise) Baines, David Baines, Terry Tessier (Jen), Keith Tessier, Darryl Tessier; aunties Deborah Smith and Brenda Tessier and grandfather Archie (Val) Tessier.
Joey was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and was raised in a few smaller towns along the way including Hazelridge, Selkirk, Oakville and Winnipeg, eventually ending up in Portage la Prairie. He spent a lot of his life working alongside his Dad Jamie, as well as for smaller construction companies in and around Portage, with a love for finishing work and carpentry.
Joey was the type of person to literally fill up a room with his huge smile, outgoing personality and boisterous laugh. He was everyone's Joe Joe. A big, clumsy, fun loving gentle giant that would be there for anyone in a heartbeat. He would literally give someone the last shirt he had on his back, and would walk for miles if you needed him to be there. If you couldn't find Joe, he was often found sitting at someone's kitchen table enjoying the company of family and friends with either a tool, a beer or someone's baby in his hands. He especially held a huge place in his heart for his old beloved pup, Neika.
Joey will be deeply missed by many many extended family, cousins, friends and family friends, his best friends Justin and Cole, and including especially his second family, the Leclaire's.
There will be a little come and go ceremony open to the public the evening of Tuesday February 2, 2021, from 5pm-7pm at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel in Portage la Prairie, please wear a mask.
Memorial donations may be made to The Addictions Foundation of Manitoba, Attention Finance Department, 3rd Floor, 1031 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3G 0R8 or to assist with funeral expenses, please contact Ashley at a_preston25@hotmail.com.
