Joseph Roland Paul Gomien

June 01, 1932 - July 08, 2012

Joseph passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 08, 2012 surrounded by his loving friends.Joseph was born on June 01, 1932 in Woodridge, Manitoba. Joseph's parents died early in his life and he was raised by his aunt and uncle. Joseph remained with his aunt and uncle until March of 1972 when Joseph made his home at the Manitoba Developmental Centre.

Joseph spent his younger years in a number of small Manitoba communities. He enjoyed the solace of country living. He had a love of books, music and animals; especially cats. His passion for these things continued throughout his entire life.

He would spend his spare time listening to music on his LP's and was very proud of his extensive collection of records. He also adored the company of his pet cat Demetre.

People were naturally drawn to Joseph's gentle nature and he made several friends during his life. His memory will be cherished and he will be sadly missed by his Lawnside family and by the numerous friends he has made throughout his years at MDC.

Funeral Service will be held at the Aspen Worship Centre at Manitoba Developmental Centre on Monday, July16, 2012 at 1:30 pm led by Chaplain Ron Siemens. Interment will take place at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Friends are welcome to attend.

As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Joseph's memory to Lake Manitoba Camp Legacy Inc., P.O. Box 1532, Portage la Prairie, MB, R1N 3P5.

A tree will be planted in memory and cared for by McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel www.mckenziesportagefuneralchapel.com
