It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of John Kroeker. John passed away on Thursday, September 11, 2014 at the Grace Hospital in Winnipeg at the age of 88 years.

He was predeceased by his wife Anna, parents Jacob and Susan, stepmother Mary and sister Mary.  He is lovingly remembered by his sons Robert of Portage La Prairie and Gerry (Sydney) of Winnipeg; brothers Bill of Coquitlam, B.C., Henry (Pat) of Winnipeg, Cornelius (Hilda) of N. Vancouver, B.C., Edward (Cathy) of Winnipeg, Pete of Tyndall, Mb.; sisters Helen of Winnipeg and Tina (Abe) Wiebe of Steinbach; brother-in-law Paul (Claudia) Polischuk of London, On.; and many nieces and nephews.

John was born near Lowe Farm, Manitoba and worked for the Graham family (Atlas-Graham Ind.) for over 40 years. John loved life and enjoyed golfing, raising incredible gardens and many winter trips to Hawaii with his wife Anna. In his later years, John attended the Golden Plains Church in Portage la Prairie and made many friends there. We would like to thank the Carlson, Plachner, Isaacs and Ellison families, along with Joan Lewis, Vic Shupley and many others for their love and friendship to John.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel, 56 Royal Rd. South in Portage la Prairie. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at 1:30 pm at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel.   Interment will follow at the Evergreen Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Ave, Winnipeg, MB, R3A 1P6 or a charity of one’s choice.
