Jeffrey Peters

June 11, 1967 — May 20, 2019

It is with Great Sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Jeffrey John Peters, age 51 of Long Plain First Nation in Manitoba on May 20, 2019.

Jeffrey was predeceased by his grandparents Frank and Mary Catcheway, Joe Bittern, Isabel Cameron, father Gordon Catcheway, sister Lorraine Peters and brothers Gary and Terry Peters.

When Jeff was 3 months old, his parents moved the family to Vancouver.

In 1982, he went to OutReach School and met Jessie Clair. They spent many years together. During this time Jessie and Jeff were blessed with a baby girl Linzi Clair. Linzi was born September 16, 1983. Jeff drove for all the cab companies in Vancouver and Manitoba. Jeff made and had lots of family and friends all over.  He would sometimes pick up family and friends and drive them home and never take their fare. He moved back to Manitoba in 2008 to be closer to his mom Margaret. Jeff was a cab driver for 33 years.

Jeff was a kind, caring, loving man. Everyone felt safe around him, especially in his cab. He loved to joke around with people and make them smile. Jeff also enjoyed playing games on-line, playing Keno and having drinks with his family and friends. He also liked to have a couple glasses of wine after work.

Jeff leaves to mourn his passing daughter Linzi Clair (Preston), grandkids Jesselyn, Preston and Paedon, mother Margaret, sisters Molly (Harold), Fran (Sven), Norma (Stephen) and many aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.

From Norma –

My brother Jeff would always take me from New West to Vancouver when we were nine and ten. We would travel by bus and he would take me to English Bay to swim and we would stay until sunset. He always knew his way around, even at such a young age. He was a very loving man, especially when it came to children. He was such a great uncle, he always liked to play jokes with the kids.

From Fran –

My little brother Jeff, I will miss him so much, his laugh and his smile. When Jeff drove cabs in Vancouver, he would sometimes see me coming home from the bar and drive me home. Jeff drove family and friends home and never asked for money. Jeff had a good heart and he was a good man. My heart will hurt for a long time. I love you my brother, I will miss you.
