Jeffrey Douglas Archibald

June 15, 1970 — December 1, 2024

It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Jeffrey Douglas Archibald, on Sunday, December 1, 2024, at the age of 54 years. Jeff was a loving son, brother and father. He was known for his humorous and creative spirit. Also, he was complicated at times.

Left to cherish his memory are his son, Nolan William Archibald; daughter, Riley Lauren Archibald. In addition, mourning his loss is his sister Julie Archibald. Jeff was preceded in death by his father, John Archibald and his mother, Judy Archibald, as well as, his grandparents, Lorne and Nellie Archibald, Jean and Marc Boulanger and Walter Ushock.

Jeff was born June 15, 1970 in Winnipeg, MB. He received his education at Arthur Meighen High School and went on to post-secondary education at the University of Manitoba and Brandon University. He found his career at the Royal Canadian Mint and began working there in June 1997. He made a few close friends through the course of his employment and they kept in touch over the years. Jeff valued friendship and was thankful for the laughter and good times shared together.

Jeff excelled in athletics and he participated in numerous sports while growing up. Hockey and baseball were the sports where he found his strong suit. Our family spent many weekends during hockey season traveling around Manitoba, sitting in cold rinks and even heading into the United States for tournaments. Jeff had a remarkable arm when it came to playing ball and his ability to catch was just as admirable. In his later years, Jeff enjoyed golfing and fishing as a means to pass his leisure time.

Some of Jeff’s fondest memories were made with his family. He took an enormous amount of pride in Nolan when he started playing hockey and football. The same can be said for Riley when she started playing volleyball. He coached Nolan’s football team for a few years and took great pleasure in the time spent with Nolan and the accomplishments of the team. Every summer Jeff would take his family up to Gimli and he would spend countless hours fishing off the pier enjoying the company of Nolan. Furthermore, he found joy in expressing his love for cooking and baking in the kitchen teaching Riley over the course of many afternoons. He treasured the time he spent raising his kids and being a dad.

A private family service will be held to honour Jeff’s life.

As expressions of sympathy, friends who so wish may make a donation in Jeff’s memory to The Koko Platz Community Rec Centre Rebuild, Box 884, Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 3C3 or e-transfers may be sent to kokoplatzrecclub@gmail.com.
