Peacefully, with her husband and two daughters by her side, on Monday August 2, 2010 at the Portage District General Hospital, Jeanette passed away at the age of 66 years. Daughter of Walter and Dora Bertram, Jeanette was born on June 10, 1944 in Neepawa. As a child Jeanette lived in several communities with her teen years spent in Langruth, Manitoba where she met Monty. They were married in 1964 and settled in Portage la Prairie.

Jeanette was employed at the Portage District General Hospital and Portage la Prairie Mutual Insurance Company before finding her chosen career as a legal secretary. She "retired" in 2004 from Miller Pressey Selinger but returned numerous times because she loved her job. Jeanette was well respected by her coworkers and clients because of her dependable and professional manner.

Predeceased by parents Walter and Dora Bertram, two infant siblings and brother-in-law Bob, she is survived by her husband Monty, daughters Julie (Greg) Roberts and Jodi (Danny) Sparrow; grandchildren Marshall, Matt and Lindsay; sisters-in-law Brenda Clearwater and Judy Peters; Aunts Mable Richards and Edith McCracken and numerous cousins. Jeanette also leaves behind many special friends.

Jeanette was an avid reader of historical fiction and crime novels, easily reading three books a week, making it very difficult for her to find an unread novel. She enjoyed coffee dates with friends, evenings watching her favorite TV programs and defeating her two daughters in scrabble games. Jeanette loved being with her grandchildren and rarely went a day without seeing or speaking with Julie and/or Jodi.

Family and friends will definitely miss her quiet, gentle manner as well as her sense of humor.

A Memorial Service will be held at McKenzies United Church, 85 a�" 11 Street NW, Portage la Prairie, MB on Friday, August 6, 2010 at 10:00 am led by Rev. Marg Scott. Interment will take place at a later date.

As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Jeanette's memory to Canadian Cancer Society - Research, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB, R3C 9Z9.
