With her family at her side, Janice Dunn passed away on Friday, June 7th, 2019 in her home at the age of 82 years.
Lovingly remembered by her children; Kelly Wiebe, Sandy (Ken) Sagert, Cindy (Bill) Laudinsky, and Gary (Linda) Wiebe; grandchildren: Nathan, Shalaine, Justin, Jacy, Corey, Violet and Shayla; great-grandchildren: Kaden, Jeryn, Kaiden and Colton; siblings; Lillian (Bud), Esther, Ellen, Marvin (Vivian); numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband Raymond Dunn; parents Ida and Conrad Annell; brothers: Carl, Conrad Jr and Niels; sisters: Irene, Elvina and Marjorie.
Janice was 1 of 11 children, born in Palermo ND, the family moved to Chatfield MB in 1939, she moved to Kenora, Ontario in 1955 with her brother Carl, where she worked at the hotel, lodge, and hospital. She moved to Winnipeg MB in 1958 where she met Irwin (Tex) Wiebe. They were married in 1959. They had 4 Children Kelly, Sandy, Cindy and Gary in 6 years. Years later they went their separate ways. Janice went to Red River College to get her bookkeeping certificates. Then in 1982 she met the man she was waiting for, Raymond Dunn. Ray taught Janice to golf, this became her new favorite hobby, especially when she became better than him. In May of 1984 they were married and moved out to Solsgirth, MB where they opened the General Store, Post Office and Credit Union where Janice was the Manager. After many years they decided to move to Portage La Prairie in 1994 and make it their new home.
Janice was the best hugger. She had a great sense of humor and was a very generous person.
She enjoyed Golfing at courses across Canada, playing bridge, playing the guitar singing either on her own or in the choir, bowling, walking for miles. She enjoyed cruises with her children to Alaska, and the West Caribbean. She got to see Niagara Falls and wine sampling with two of her daughters.
Janice belonged to various volunteer groups and organizations; such as Service to seniors, the Welcome Wagon, Herman Prior Centre, McKenzie United Church and assisting in the Thrift shop.
The family would like to thank the Gladstone Medical Centre, the nurses and staff from Sunset Palliative Care and Southern Health Home Care.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, June 14, 2019 at McKenzie United Church, led by Wilma Shirriff.
As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Janice’s memory to the Portage Animal Welfare Society (PAWS), 121 12th St. NE, Portage la Prairie, MB, R1N 4A2.
