James McKay

Peacefully on October 15, 2017 James (Jim) McKay passed away at the age of 68. He leaves to mourn his wife Pauline, daughter Tracy Lampert (Paul) of Landmark and son Richard (Laura) of Sherwood Park, also grandchildren Emma, Ethan, Ella and Everest.

Jim was born and raised in Winnipeg. His first love was numbers, which led him to his career as an accountant. The love of his life though was Pauline, and once opportunity knocked in Portage la Prairie in 1973, they made the move.  The business Hambly, McKay, accountants was started in 1980 and operated until retirement in 2013. Jim was dedicated to his clients and served on many local Boards and The Chamber of Commerce over the years.

Jim and Pauline always enjoyed sun, and the outdoors, whether in Texas, at the family cottage, hiking the trails or out on the golf course.

Jim was up to any challenge and often “MacGyvered” fixes to problems. He was unable to overcome this last one.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 19, 2017 at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel at 1:00 pm, led by Rev. Julie Baker.
