Isadore "Izzy" Vermette

Peacefully on Thursday, June 10, 2021, Isadore “Izzy” Vermette passed away at the Portage District General Hospital at the age of 60 years.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 27 years, Rachel Vermette, daughters Virginia Sinclair, Christina Sinclair, Destiny Catcheway and Chasity Vermette, sons Jordan Catcheway, Izzy Jr. Vermette and Justice Vermette, grandchildren Wade Sinclair, Gia Sinclair, Thunder Sinclair, Desjai Catcheway, Jaydes Catcheway (raised like a daughter), Ah-Kyah Catcheway, Sky Myran, Trinity Vermette, Ocean Vermette, Niel Vermette and twins Gino & Tony Vermette, great-granddaughter Saralynn Sinclair, siblings Eric (Cathy) Robinson, Darlene (John) Osbourne, Sylvia (John) McKay, Zelda Vermette, Doris Vermette, Nancy Vermette and Ray Vermette, father-in-law Gary Spence, mother-in-law Lena Spence , brothers-in- law Wilfred (Bernice) Catcheway, Gary (Joyce) Catcheway , Harold (Lucille) Catcheway and Warren Catcheway, sisters-in-law Beatrice Catcheway , Margaret (Lawrence) Ferland and Judy Catcheway (Harry Sanderson) as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Izzy was predeceased by his parents Maurice Joseph Vermette (2006) and Jeanette (nee Miller) Vermette (1965), brothers Sherman and Brian James “BJ” Vermette and sister Carol Scott, grandchildren Jaycee Catcheway (2009) and Solara Catcheway (2010), nephew John Vermette and son-in-law- James “Jimbo” Lathlin.

Izzy aka “Old Man” was born in Russell, MB, and resided in Winnipeg until 1996, when he moved to Portage la Prairie, MB, where he resided until his passing.

Wake will be held on Monday, June 21, 2021 at Dakota Tipi Community Hall at 7:00 pm. Funeral service will take place on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Dakota Tipi Community Hall with Pastor Francis Roulette officiating.  Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
