Peacefully, on her birthday March 23, 2025, Irene St. Goddard passed away at Douglas Campbell Lodge at the age of 96 years.
Lovingly remembered by her husband Fred Beamer, children Daryl (Barb) St. Goddard, Terri Lee (Jim) Campbell and Tracey (Sheldon) Hordeski, grandchildren Jennifer (Jason), Jeff (Glenda), Kris (Nina), Ian (Brittany), Todd, Robin (Shae), Nick and Deidra (Jesse), great grandchildren Reid, Shayna, Samuel, Geena, Tia, Tegan and Katelyn, great-great grandchilren Bryson and Ezra. Along with her extended family: daughters-in-law Marilyn, Karen and Debbie, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by her children’s father Wesley St. Goddard, sons Donald, Larry, and Randy, parents Wilfred and Clara Peloquin, siblings Adolphe, Gertrude, Raymond, Lucien and Juliette, and great grandson Matthew.
Irene was born and raised in St. Malo, Manitoba where she was also educated. After graduating she moved to St. Ambroise where she taught in a one room school house. This was where she met and married Wesley, the father of her children. They ventured to Portage la Prairie where she raised her 6 children while helping Wes run Hunters Paradise in the fall.
As her children grew up she was employed by Eatons, Woolworth’s and later in life she returned to school and started her career at the Manitoba Development Center working in the payroll department.
She then met Frederick Beamer and they married in 1996. Together they travelled from the East Coast to the West Coast, south of the border and Hawaii; which was their winter get away. They spent 30 winters in Hawaii. Enjoyed fishing at their cabin in the Waterhen. They then bought a trailer in Clear Lake, where they spent many summers enjoying fishing trips with friends and happy hours. They had a relationship with Grand Forks, a place they frequented often.
Irene had many hobbies: cooking, sewing, knitting, and even enjoyed 10 pin bowling. She volunteered with the Army and Navy Air Force Women’s Auxiliary and the Catholic Women’s League. As old age started to limit their travels Irene and Fred enjoyed going out for coffee everyday at McDonald’s with ‘the gang’.
She was the glue that kept our families together, always reaching out to everyone. Classy, beautiful, soft spoken, she had a very kind heart and a terrific sense of humor. She will be greatly missed.
A funeral mass will be held at Good Shepherd Roman Catholic Church on Friday, March 28, 2025 at 1:00 pm. Interment will take place at Evergreen Memorial Gardens Columbarium.
