Peacefully, with her family at her side, Idie Trimble passed away on Sunday, September 1, 2019 at the Portage General Hospital at 67 years old.
Predeceased by her parents Gerrard & Ida Verwey, left to cherish Idie’s memory are her beloved partner and husband of 52 years Tom; children Monty (Monica) & Lucas, Adam (Stephanie) & Everett, and Laurel (Justin) Sawyer & Boyd; siblings Joanne (Karl) Voesenek, John (Norma) Verwey, Marie (Lloyd) Delf, Geraldine (Gerald) Masson, Bernie Verwey, Arnold (Judy) Verwey, Pat (Owen) Williams, Randy (Shirlene) Verwey, as well as numerous nieces, nephews & relatives.
Born October 15th 1951 in Portage la Prairie, she was the second youngest daughter in a family of five girls and four boys. After attending school in Portage and receiving her degree in education, she taught in the Portage area for over 35 years.
Not one to seek the spotlight, but always striving for excellence, she believed in hard work and dedication. She put her all into family, job, church and community. She loved growing things; flowers in the house, a garden of vegetables or a yard that could be in a magazine. She enjoyed cooking; often trying new recipes just because they might be good. As busy as she was, she welcomed a visit with anyone who stopped by. Nobody doubted her love of and devotion to family.
The service to celebrate Ida’s life will be held on Friday, September 6, 2019 at 11 am at Good Shepherd R.C. Church, led by Father Gerald Langevin. Private family interment will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery.
As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made in Idie’s memory to Central Plains Cancer Services, 318 Saskatchewan Ave. E., Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 0K8.
A tree will be planted in memory and cared for by McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel. 204-857-4021 www.mckenziesportagefuneralchapel.com
