Henry Neufeld

Peacefully on Monday, October 31, 2011, at the Lions Prairie Manor, Henry Neufeld, age of 94 years, passed into the presence of Jesus.

Left to cherish Henry's memory are his wife Hannah, their children Gordon (Verna) Neufeld of Morden, MB, Irvin (Kathy) Neufeld of Airdrie, AB, Leona (Paul) Ruten of Dalmeny, SK, Victor Neufeld of Elm Creek, MB, and Laura (Dale) Falk of Portage la Prairie, MB. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dad also leaves behind his brothers, Cliff Neufeld of Sydney, MB, and Herman (Lorraine) Neufeld of Abbotsford, BC. He was predeceased by his daughter-in-law Sandra Neufeld, one brother David Neufeld, and two sisters Nettie Buhler and Edna Funk.

Dad was born on January 13, 1917. He was raised at Lost River, Saskatchewan with his five siblings. On September 22, 1940, he married Hannah Fehr, the love of his life. They were blessed with five children and recently celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary. Dad and Mom farmed in the Gladstone area and Dad also co-pastored the Mayfeld Rudnerweider Church and later the Peoples Mission on 34 highway. Dad and Mom moved to the Peony Farm near Portage la Prairie and spent more than 30 years in that home. In 1982, he retired from his position at the Portage District General Hospital. Their home was a welcoming home, and over the years they hosted several neighborhood Bible studies and many over night guests. Dad lived a life of faith dedicated to helping others. He was known for his sense of humor and his smile. He was a people person, and always enjoyed a good visit. After retirement, Dad and Mom moved to a small farm in the Elm Creek district, where he enjoyed returning to his farming roots. Later they moved back to Portage la Prairie due to declining health.

Dad leaves a legacy of loving God, family and missions. Dad and Mom helped to organize the Valley Stream Mission Booth at the Austin Threshermen's Reunion which was in operation for fifty years and many missions benefited from this ministry.

The family would like to thank the numerous people who were so helpful with kind words and visits in Dad's declining years. We would also like to thank the Lions Prairie Manor nurses and staff for the excellent care and comfort they provided for our Dad.

Dad, as a family we are forever blessed by the heritage you have given us through your life. Your love will remain with us always.
