Helen Chester, at the age of 81 years, passed away suddenly at the Portage General Hospital on Friday, June 15, 2012.
Predeceased by her parents Anthony and Mary Mozdzen, brother Bert Mozdzen and sister Victoria Chesla.
Left to treasure her memories are children Beverly (Dale) Hermansen of Sacramento, Larry (Susan) Chester of Portage la Prairie, three grandchildren Thomas (Elizabeth) Chester, Lori (Michael) Montgomery, Jeffrey Hermansen, four great-grandchildren Tatum, Addison, Aidan, Kiera, sister Frances (John) Lemon of Winnipeg, MB and many nieces and nephews.
Helen was born on April 17, 1931 and was raised in the farming communities of Alonsa and Amaranth. She spent her adult years caring for her family and working in the restaurant business where she enjoyed numerous friends and new acquaintances. Lifetime interests included sewing, crocheting, knitting, gardening, making preserves and family dinners. Helen also found the challenge of fishing exciting, not to mention the odd trip to her favorite casino.
She will be sadly missed and always remembered for her infectious smile and contagious laugh.
There will be a celebration of Helen's life on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel led by Rev. Wilma Shirriff.
Donations may be made in Helen's memory to a charity of one's choice.
