Hazel "Tudy" Buechler

With great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Tudy Buechler on Sunday, March 14th, 2021 at Portage District Hospital at the age of 80 years.

Tudy is predeceased by her beloved husband Larry Buechler, mother Ora Johnston, father Howard Johnston, brother Harley Johnston, sister-in-law Patricia Wilcox and brother-in-law Chuck Wilcox.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Darcey Penner (Dan), Daryl Buechler and Shane Buechler (Jamie), all of Portage la Prairie, MB; sisters-in-law Irene Johnston and Tammy (Craig) Graham.  She is also lovingly remembered by her grandchildren: Sheldon Penner (Mia), Nick Penner (Ana), Kelsie Penner, Tanner Buechler, Travis Buechler (Lacie), Jenna (Tanner) Towle, Devin Buechler (Chassidy), Kahlie Buechler and Nathan Buechler; great-grandchildren:  Casey Buechler, Kingsley Buechler, Cambree Buechler, Kenyen Buechler, Willow Buechler, Paisley Towle, Leela Towle, Logan Towle and Gillian Buechler; along with numerous nephews and nieces.

Tudy was born December 18th, 1940 in Portage la Prairie, MB.   She met and married her beloved husband Larry.  (Oct 6th, 1962).  They were married for 53 years living and raising a family of three children.  Tudy opened and ran a licensed home day care for many years.  She enjoyed the time she spent with children. Tudy enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren.  She enjoyed curling.  Playing in a mixed curling league for many years and numerous bonspiels.  She loved to sew, knit and crochet.  She made many Halloween costumes and knitted sweaters for her many grandchildren over the years.  She enjoyed spending time out at the cottage on weekends and in the summer.

Viewing and slideshow will take place at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel on Friday, March 19, 2021 from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm.  Slideshow will be viewable on this page once available.  Interment will take place at Hillside Cemetery at a later date.
