Harriet Alexandria McCleary (nee Dougan)
It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of a very special lady on Sunday, July 22, 2012 at the age of 93.
Born in Kelwood, Manitoba in 1918, Harriet moved to Portage La Prairie in 1937 and worked at the Manitoba School (MDC) for 4 1/2 years and then Portage Dental Clinic for 5 years.
In 1950, she married Newton McCleary and they enjoyed a wonderful life together until Newton's passing in 1989. Harriet was a Past Matron with Electa Chapter #2 Order of the Eastern Star and was a member for over 50 years.
Harriet was pre-deceased by her two sisters who also lived a full life.
Her many friends, nieces, nephews and neighbors' visits meant a lot to Harriet and she was also so grateful to Dr. A Macklem, nurses, and to Home Care to allow her to continue to live in her home right up to her passing.
At Harriet's request, cremation has taken place and no public funeral service will be held. A private interment will be held at a later date.
