Hannah Neufeld
(nee Fehr)
Peacefully on Friday, March 9, 2012 at the Lions Prairie Manor, Hannah Neufeld, age of 89 years passed in the presence of Jesus.
Left to cherish Hannah's memory are their children Gordon (Verna) Neufeld of Morden MB, Irvin (Kathy) Neufeld of Airdire, AB, Leona (Paul) Ruten of Delmany, SK, Victor Neufeld of Elm Creek, MB, Laura (Dale) Falk of Portage la Prairie, MB. She is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mom also leaves behind her brothers Dick (Helen) Fehr of Kelowna, BC, Elmer (Sheila) Fehr of Kelowna, BC, and sister Alvina Nichols of Bonny Lake, Washington.
She was predeceased by her husband Henry, a sister in infancy, daughter-in-law Sandra Neufeld and brother-in-law Lyle Nichols.
Mom was born on September 3, 1922, in Osterwick, Manitoba. She spent the first 8 years of her life in the Haskett area, and then moved to Gladstone with her family. On September 22, 1940 at the age of 18 years Hannah married Henry Neufeld and was blessed with five children. Our parents farmed in the Gladstone area and were involved in church ministry. Mom and Dad moved to the Peony Farm near Portage la Prairie and spent more than 30 years in that home. Hannah retired from the Campbell's Soup Company as a department manager. Later Mom and Dad moved to a small farm in the Elm Creek district and then moved back to Portage la Prairie due to declining health.
Our parent's home was a welcoming home where many cups of coffee were served as friends and family gathered to laugh and linger. Mom lived a holy and humble life full of kindness, care and concern for all she met. She was known as a friend to people. She was involved in Christian Women's Club and led several Bible studies. She loved to serve and showed it by teaching Sunday school for 2 year olds, cooking at children's camp, providing food for many groups and baking pies for these groups in the early morning hours. She was an artistic woman whose quilts grace the beds of her children and grandchildren. She loved to garden and could get any plant to flourish. She along with her husband Henry and others established the Valley Stream Mission Booth at the Threshermen's Reunion grounds near Austin, MB, a food booth that raised funds for missionary activities. Mom loved the Lord her God with all of her heart, soul, mind and strength and it was evident in everything she did.
Her last days were filled with a settled peace in which she fought the enemy of death with faith, strength, dignity and courage. The heritage of faith and love that Mom has left lives with us always and will never be forgotten.
The family thanks each one of you here today for coming and for all the prayers and support you have given us in this time of sorrow. We would also like to thank the Lions Prairie Manor nurses and staff for the excellent care they gave Mom.
As expressions of sympathy, if friends so desire memorial donations may be made to Nipawin Bible College, Box 1986 Nipawin, SK, S0E 1E0.
