Gwendolyne LaFreniere

d. September 3, 2022

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Gwendolyn Rose LaFreniere on September 3, 2022 with her family by her side.  We know she is in the arms of her beloved daughter Jill whom we lost a very short time ago.

Gwen will be deeply missed by Maurice, her daughter Carrie (Harold), granddaughters Natasha (Scott), Shyann (Marilou), Jamie (Jared) Kati (Matt), her sister Lynn (Bill) and the most loving great granddaughter Everly, as well all the nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

She grew up in Poplar Point, Manitoba and then moved to raise her family in St. Marks, Manitoba.  Mom was the Canadian Red River Jig champion, something we were all very proud of.  She loved to dance and loved going to old time music dances or even listening on the radio, as we all know polka party was on the radio once a week!  She loved to play baseball and even curled, she also loved to golf, watching all these sports on TV whenever she had the chance.  We will watch the Winnipeg Jets through different eyes as #81 steps on the ice, her favourite player of late.  We will miss texting her throughout every game when he scored, she loved hockey.  Also a very big Bomber fan and Jenny Jones.

Mom always worked so hard to help all she could, one of the strongest women we ever knew as proven in all her successful career endeavors.  She was very proud of all her “girls” in all their accomplishments, reminding them of it all the time in her text and phone messages.  I am sure we will all miss interpreting some of these messages as when she was so proud and excited the messages were pretty scattered but cute.  A very distinguished lady who could light up any room when she entered, just do not get in her way in traffic as she became very colourful!

Mom had a real love for animals as well, especially all the puppies in our lives.  We have set up a training scholarship in her name at Ready Fit K9.  The fund is Gwen’s First Paw Forward, and donations can be made to:  natasha@readyfitk9s.com

Mom you have left a big hole in all our hearts and we will miss you every day, we also wish you an amazing journey.  We love you.

Private burial will take place at a later date.

A tree will be planted in memory and cared for by McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel.  www.mckenziesportagefuneralchapel.com
