It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gwendolyn “Gwen” Mangat at the Portage District General Hospital at the age of 68 years.
Gwen was born on May 2, 1954 in Selkirk, Manitoba. With her family in 1966 they moved to Long Pond Newfoundland, then in 1973 they moved to Amherst, Nova Scotia. Gwen also lived in Surrey, BC and MacGregor, MB.
Gwen was predeceased by her parents Kenneth and Evelyn, sister Deborah, stepmom Dorothy and stepdad George. She is survived by her sister Georgina (Terry), Laureen, Rhonda (Jeremy), brother Kenny (Trina) of Nova Scotia, nieces Teresa (Jeff) of BC, Crystal (Gerald), Amanda (Malcolm), Hannah, Maddie, Emma and Jenna of Nova Scotia, nephews Michael (Bracken) of BC and Landen of Nova Scotia, great nieces Cassie and Kiera of BC, great nephew Brody of Nova Scotia, along with numerous aunties, uncles, cousins and great friends Gail and Bob.
Gwen was a kindhearted person who liked to help others and loved to cook and bake. She enjoyed playing different card games, Dominoes and Yahtzee and doing crafts.
A celebration of life will be held on October 1, 2022 at 1:30 pm at MacGregor EMC, civic address 62 MB-350 in MacGregor, led by Rev. Russell Doerksen. Interment will follow the luncheon in the Beaver Creek Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donation can be made in Gwen’s memory to a charity of one’s choice.
