Grace Evelyn Morris (nee Vanstone)

Peacefully, with her family by her side, Grace Morris passed away on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at Lions Prairie Manor at the age of 101 years.

Predeceased by her husband Edward, her grandson Les, granddaughter Lindsey and siblings Edward Vanstone, Ruth Creed and Gordon Vanstone.

Left to treasure her memory are her children Doreen Grantham, Allan (Genny) Morris, Terry (Connie) Morris, Peggy Sheridan and Beverley Morris; grandchildren Nadine (Ron), Wendy (Mike), Tammy (Ramsey); Becky (Gord), Jeffrey, Michael (Heather); Kelly, Cory (Melanie), Evan (Emma), Christopher (Samantha); Jay, Gina (Karl), Holly (Rod), and Nadia (Ryan); great grandchildren Kyle, Keith, Kory; sara, Amy; Kailyn, Tyler, Angelina, Elizabeth, Chloe, Rylee, Carson, Avery, Greyson; Santee, Robyn, Alyssa, Anna, and Mila.

Grace was born on August 28, 1922 and spent her entire life in Portage la Prairie. She married Edward Morris on December 21, 1942 and they raised five children in the house that Ed built for them.

Grace was an active member of McKenzie United Church, participating in the choir and U.C.W. She was a member of the “Tea Gang” for many years (A group of women who gathered when their children were small to visit, knit and have tea). In retirement years, they travelled to Pine to Palm Park in Texas for several months and made special friends. It was a wonderful spot for their children to visit them. She was the hub of the family, hosting family meals on a weekly basis. She had the best sense of humor and lots of love to share with everyone. She will be missed by everyone that knew her.

Viewing will take place at McKenzie Funeral Chapel on Sunday, September 3, 2023 from 7-8:00 pm. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, September 4, 2023 at 1:00 pm with Wilma Shirriff officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.

A very special thank you to her “Manor Family” who cared for her the past years. It was greatly appreciated by all of us.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Lions Prairie Manor Foundation Inc, 24 - 9^th Street NE, Portage la Prairie, MB, R1N 3V4.
