With great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our mother Grace McIvor on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at Lion’s Prairie Manor at the age of 91 years.

She was predeceased by her husband John Reil McIvor; parents George and Ida Corrigal; siblings Lee, Allen, Gordon and Myrtle.  Grace will be lovingly remembered by her children Florence (Magnus) Straume of Norway, Linda Dubois of Winnipeg, Judy (Bob) Nitschke of Edmonton, Allen (Adriane) McIvor of Fort Frances, Ken (Sue) McIvor of Portage la Prairie; 8 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; siblings Roland “Bud” Corrigal of Brandon, Geordie Corrigal of MacGregor, June (Gary) Ross of Morris; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Grace was born, raised and received her education in the MacGregor District area.  She told many stories of riding her horse to school in the Orangeville District.   In 1945 she married John McIvor and they started their family.  Grace worked and lived in Portage all her married life while the family continued to grow.  Her family was the center of her life and she always enjoyed spending time with them.  In her spare time she loved watching all sports and playing Bingo.  Grace loved her needle point which all family members enjoyed of the years and she always had her knitting basket by her chair.  Grace also had a green thumb and loved her plants.  When time permitted she loved to go for car rides anywhere.  Mom had a big heart and would do anything for you.  She was a loving person with a sense of humor and told a good joke.

A private family gathering will take place at a later date.
